Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach you how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions and provide help on a first aid basis.

The courses give a deeper understanding of the issues that impact on people's mental health both at home and the workplace.

The training aims to teach practical skills that can be used every day to promote a mentally healthy workplace, a decrease in absence & increase in productivity and motivated and engaged workforce. Candidates will learn how to identify signs & symptoms and start non-judgmental conversations to allow early intervention and where appropriate guide colleagues towards professional or personal support

First Aid for Mental Health (Level 2)

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for those who want to gain a greater awareness of mental health. Candidates will learn how to detect early symptoms of common mental illnesses and have the skills to support both their own and others wellbeing.


Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (Level 3)

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for anyone who will have any supervisory responsibilities e.g Line managers and HR staff. In addition to being taught how to detect early symptoms of common mental illnesses, candidates will gain knowledge & skills in how to support an employee with mental health related problems and be able to guide them to the appropriate help where necessary.

Examples of the course content covered on both courses includes:


• Mental health and stress in the workplace and how to promote a mentally healthy environment.
• Recognise the signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, alcohol & drug abuse.
• Legislation and your responsibilities in the workplace regarding mental health.
• How to recognise a problem and support an employee with mental health related problems
• How to implement an action plan to promote the recovery of mental ill health
• How to start conversations about mental health issues.


Certification:


On successful completion of any of the 2 courses shown above candidates will receive a qualification certificate valid for three years from our awarding body for mental health training (NUCO).
